THE 16TH ANNUAL KAUAI POWWOW

The 16th Annual Kauai Powwow will be held September 26, 27, 28 at Kapaa Beach Park. This year’s theme is Rejuvenate Your Spirit: Embracing Our Culture and Tradition. One can uplift their spirit through the power of the drum, dancing, and the rhythm of a Native American Powwow. Come be rejuvenated! 2014 Kauai Powwow begins with the Outreach School program on September 26 at Lydgate Pavilion from 9-11 am. Later on Friday evening, the powwow moves to Kapaa Beach Park with the Indigenous Drum Gathering program from 6-9 pm. Gates open at 4 pm on Friday with food and crafts available. On Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28, powwow festivities continue at Kapaa Beach Park from 10 am – 5 pm with the Grand Entry of our Color Guard at 11 am presenting the flags and honoring those who have served in the military and our elders who have walked the paths before us. There will be drumming, dancing, storytelling, traditional foods, silent auction, Native American and Hawaiian arts and crafts, and a keiki booth with games and activities. Admission is FREE, however the experiences and memories are priceless. For more information or accommodations, call Dr B. at (808) 651-7733, visit the webpage at kauaipowwow.com or email  kauaipowwow@gmail.com. No drugs or alcohol allowed for this family fun event.
Another exciting news item is that the Kauai Beach Guide iPhone app is FREE for a limited time! Check out the app in iTunes. See how your beach experience can be enhanced  with the daily Ocean and Weather report, the pins that show which beaches are safest, the facilities and activities at each beach plus GPS!  It’s an amazing app that you’ll be glad to include as an on-Island guide!
