LOOK – UP IN THE AIR — IT’S A BIRD, IT’S A PLANE, NO, IT’S…… A SAUCER?

NASA is preparing to test its giant Mars parachute off Kauai tomorrow, Tuesday, weather permitting. The parachute will hold a saucer-shaped vehicle in an experimental flight designed to land heavy loads on the red planet. NASA wanted to use a bigger=than-before and stronger parachute to send astronauts to Mars. Weather is a factor, so if the experiment does not go tomorrow, June 3, it will try again June 6. The test will be conducted high in Earth’s atmosphere to simulate thin Martian air. Cameras rigger aboard the vehicle will capture the action as the vehicle accelerates to four times the speed of sound as it falls back to Earth. Viewers with an Internet connection can follow along live. This site will print the internet info if the flight does not go tomorrow (and it looks like it will be delayed until Thursday!).

If you look up in the sky and see rain, and you want to know about weather on #Kauai, don’t forget that the Kauai Beach Guide iPhone app gives not only the weather, but also a daily ocean report. It has GPS to get you to your beach of choice, plus info on that beach as to facilities, parking, safety, and much more! It’s only 99ยข in iTunes.
