Hoike Hula Concert 2/7/2015

Kuma Hula Leilani Rivera Low is putting on the 23rd annual Hoike Hula Concert at the War Memorial. If you want dinner and seeing what’s for sale at the craft fair, doors open at 5:. Doors for the recital open at 6:30 and the recital begins at 7:00 P.M.The dances and songs are from the Hawaii, Tahiti and Maori cultures.  The performance will also feature four additional halaus from Japan. Guests will also experience dances from the women of Niihau.  Tickets pre Saturday are $20, and $25.at the door. Tickets for children ages 5-14 are $10 and $15 at the door.  Children under 4 are free.

 

The Spirit of Jazz 2/6-8/2015

St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church is presenting the blending of age-old church hymns with roaring jazz music.  The concert concludes with a jazz mass, “Spirit of the Blues.”  The service will run at 8:30 and 11: A.M. on Sunday, with a brunch following the 11: service.  The celebration really starts Saturday at 7: P.M. and features Eric Bibb from Finland, known as a great guitarist and blues musician; and Valerie Duke, former vocalist with the Glenn Miller Big Band. Also performing will be Amy Hanaiali.

 

Slack and Blues 2/7-8/2015

The Courtyard Marriott at the Cocomut Beach in Kapaa is the place to be to hear two-time Grammy Award winner Taj Mahal, along with Ledward Kaapana, Mike Kaawa, Pancho Graham and many more! The concert takes place at 7: P.M. Saturday and at 3:P.M. Sunday. The concert promoter, Ken Levine said that this much talent on one stage is staggering.
