EARTH DAY — APRIL22, 2015

April 22 marks the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, and people around the globe will be volunteering, protesting and educating others for the cause. Wednesday offers the perfect opportunity to help improve the health of our planet and it doesn’t have to cost a ton of money. Here are some fun, frugal ways to celebrate Earth Day.

1. Plant a garden. Plants reduce carbon dioxide in the air, produce oxygen and help promote a healthy lifestyle.

2. Throw a party. You can contribute to Earth Day by partying. Many cities hold Earth Day festivals and celebrations. It’s a great chance to meet like-minded people, learn something new and                                       contribute to environmentally conscious companies — all while having fun.

3, Change a habit. Start recycling, turning off the air conditioning when you’re not home, taking shorter showers, turning off the water when you brush your teeth, and swapping out your plastic                                             K-cups for a reusable one.

4. Reevaluate shopping habits. Do the research to find out which products you can start buying from more sustainable resources.

Earth Day is a reminder to all of us to love our planet and protect it for the future of our children.

The #Kauai Beach Guide iPhone app team is proud to bring you this message. We believe that our wanting to help save lives is also a part of Earth Day.  Do what you can with what you have.
